What belongs to Ehrenfeld

The Ehrenfeld district covers six neighbourhoods: Bickendorf, Bocklemünd/Mengenich, Ehrenfeld, Neuehrenfeld, Ossendorf and Vogelsang. The district town hall stands on Venloer Straße, which forms the district's centre. Neighbourhoods like Bickendorf and Ossendorf were villages until well into the 19th century, which their architecture still partly reflects, and TV broadcasters have since settled in Ossendorf. For you, this mix means short distances between very different streetscapes.

Venloer Straße, the Gürtel and the tram

Venloer Straße connects Ehrenfeld with the city centre. Where it crosses the Gürtel is the Venloer Straße/Gürtel stop by Ehrenfeld station: tram lines 3 and 4 run underground there, while line 13 runs above ground along the Ehrenfeldgürtel. Subbelrather Straße also crosses the Gürtel at a stop. Breaking down here often means standing in a zone with heavy junction, bus and tram traffic. Hazard lights, hi-vis vest and a phone call are enough: don't stay on the tracks, and don't push your vehicle into traffic.

Butzweilerhof and the west

In the north-west is the former Butzweilerhof airfield with a large retail park, served by tram line 5 as its terminus. Car parks and commercial lots surround it. If your vehicle breaks down there in a large car park, we'll need the name of the store or company and the section of the car park.

Where the A57 ends, and the A1

The A57 ends in Ehrenfeld. It reaches Cologne via the Köln-Longerich (28), Köln-Bickendorf (29) and Köln-Ehrenfeld (30) exits, after which the motorway ends and the road continues as the K 4 to the Innere Kanalstraße and the B55a. At the end of the motorway, traffic switches from motorway to city street, and you should tell us whether you're still before or already past the exit. How to describe your location in Ehrenfeld

• Name the neighbourhood: Ehrenfeld, Neuehrenfeld, Bickendorf, Vogelsang, Ossendorf or Bocklemünd/Mengenich.
• On main roads, the junction, for example Venloer Straße/Gürtel.
• On the motorway: the exit (29 or 30) and direction.
• In large car parks: the name of the store and the section.
