Exits around Offenburg

Between Appenweier and Offenburg is the Gottswald/Waldmatten rest area, and the motorway crosses the Kinzig on a bridge. At Offenburg, the six-lane section of the A5 ends, and the motorway continues south with only four lanes. Where the carriageway narrows, traffic jams are more frequent. If you break down in a jam, switch on your hazard lights and keep the emergency lane clear. South of Offenburg follow the Höfen/Korb, Unditz/Schutter and Kürzell/Gerstenmatt rest areas, then the Mahlberg service station.

Kehl and Strasbourg

At Appenweier the B28 branches off towards the Rhine border at Kehl. The Europe Bridge between Kehl and Strasbourg is a four-lane road bridge from 1960 and is seen as a symbol of Franco-German reconciliation. Many vehicles come from France, others are heading there. We speak German, French, Dutch and English. Lahr, Ettenheim, Rust

South of Offenburg, many travellers leave the A5 at Lahr (B415, with Lahr airport) or at Rust, where the Europa-Park theme park has its own exit.
