How we find you between Bühl and Offenburg

Tell us your direction of travel and the last exit you passed, or the name of a rest area. That already narrows your position down well. On the motorway you can also identify the exact spot from the kilometre markers and the arrows on the guide posts, which point to the nearest emergency phone.

Waiting safely: truck stop and service station

If your vehicle still rolls, try to reach the next exit or a rest area. At Achern there's a truck stop at exit 53, and between Achern and Appenweier is the Renchtal service station. There you're out of the flow of traffic, can make phone calls calmly, and are easier for the tow truck to reach than on the hard shoulder.

Achern and the surrounding area

We help in Achern and in Sasbach, Ottersweier, Kappelrodeck and Renchen. The B3 runs through Achern. From the town, the Achertal valley leads towards Kappelrodeck and Ottenhöfen im Schwarzwald, and from there on towards the Schwarzwaldhochstraße. If you break down in the valley or on the mountain, the best landmark for us is a car park, an inn, or a village entrance.

Why a breakdown in the Achertal is different

• Gradients and bends: vehicles that roll to a stop in the valley often end up in hard-to-see spots. Hazard lights and a warning triangle matter more here than on a straight road.
• Phone signal: it can vary in the valleys. Send your location on WhatsApp as soon as you have signal.
• Winter: at higher elevations, ice can appear earlier than in the Rhine valley. A vehicle without winter tyres becomes a problem faster there; see our guide (German) Winter breakdown in the Black Forest.
• Braking downhill: if you break down with weak brakes or an overheated engine, mention it on the phone right away. We'll plan the pickup accordingly.

Renchtal and Renchen

Renchen lies on the Rench river, and the Renchtal valley leads from there towards Oberkirch. The A5 crosses the Rench between the Achern and Appenweier exits on a flood-canal bridge. If you break down in this section, you're not far from Renchen and the Renchtal. Tell us the exit or the Renchtal service station as a landmark.

Tyre change or jump-start instead of towing
